To ensure the smooth functioning of the network, we exclusively use products of www.mikrotik.com on the frequency of 5GHz.
The installation flat fee for existing routers amounts to R600.
It’s important that you notify us with the date you wish to suspend your usage, as well as when you want to reactivate your line.
We do charge a connecting fee of R200 for each reactivation. This administration fee covers our costs to supervise your connection in return you don’t have to sign a fixed contract.
Long term users are invoiced every three months. Monthly fees can be paid monthly in advance.
The South African power supply system, compared to the European one, is very unstable, particularly on a 50Hz frequency. Highly sensitive devices, that work on a radio base, react very sensitively due to the this instability causing disconnection. This is why it’s very important to follow these instructions to return to a trouble-free operation.
Please do as follows, if the internet isn’t working:
– Check if the WLAN router is working and reboot if necessary (interrupt the power supply and reconnect)
– Check if the WLAN is turned on, on your computer (normally a switch or a function key on the keyboard) or the ethernet cable is plugged in.
– Check ALL the power supplies (lots of these adapters ‘SA-Europe’, are made for ‘Schuko’ and not for the ‘europlugs’. This can result in a loose connection, wiggle the plug to ensure connectivity)
– If all of this doesn’t reconnect your internet, it’s very important to reboot the router situated on your roof.
Please do the following:
You can see the adapters in the image below. These provide the power for the antenna and the router through the ethernet cable. These are the adapters we are using. This POE (power over ethernet) is connected directly to the mains power or connected through an adapter with a power supply unit.
Now look for the cable that emanates from the roof (That’s the cable, which is always marked as POE with the other cable marked as LAN which is connected to the WLAN router). This you have to unplug and replug again to reboot the router. Alternatively you can also disconnect the power supply (Unplug the mains cable or power supply) and wait 15 minutes before reconnecting.
If you‘re still not connected to the internet after trying all of the above, then there’s probably a problem with the network. We normally inform you immediately, in real-time, if there are outages on our network. Individual outages or connection problems at your home are difficult for us to identify, we can’t spot them easily. That’s why we’re reliant on your feedback to be able to help you quickly and efficiently. In that case please call us on +27(0)21 300 0033.
General problems and outages on our network can be tracked by following us on Twitter and Facebook.
This problem only occurs when you have your email address with a South African provider, or when the provider blocks South African IP addresses. Our philosophy is not to create obstacles but rather to keep the internet open without any restrictions. Many providers attempt to retain their clients by blocking SMTP servers, making it more difficult for them to simply change providers. We recommend choosing an independent Email provider, so that in the future you have more freedom of choice. All major international Email providers, such as Google, Yahoo or Hotmail, have the same approach and therefore their services also work globally.
To assist our clients with the above-mentioned problem, we offer the following solutions:
1. If you primarily use your email at home on the HX-Systems network, you can use the following outgoing Mail server (SMTP): 220.127.116.11 Port: 25, no encryption and no username or password.
2. If you frequently use your email outside of the HX-Systems network, we recommend setting up a free SMTP server at www.authmailer.com, which will function globally.
